Drivers of health according to SERVES

Updated: Dec 2, 2023

Health correlates with different aspects of life. This is something that varies from person to person but is generally driven by the same external and internal influences. Well-being is a state that anyone can achieve. It includes so many factors that, when someone wants to work on their health, simple steps can be taken. I always base my health and lifestyle on traditional wisdom. We don’t need to overcomplicate. We just have to be smart about how we function as humans.

Some health drivers according to SERVES:

Feeling good in your skin, being confident

Well-being is all about being happy with yourself. When I encounter people that are dissatisfied with their bodies and how they look, the one thing I can recommend is working on your health. Start eating whole and nutritious foods, start moving and working out. Applying this alone for some time, does wonders to the mind and confidence as well as your body and health.

Feeling fit and energized

When people tell me they feel tired and sluggish all the time, I know there is something off. If you’re healthy you have heaps of energy and excitement for life. Working on yourself in terms of nutrition, training and sleep will bring about the right hormones and energies to make you feel fresh and fit.

Having close and real relationships

If you have real friendships and close family bonds you know this gives you an energy and fulfillment boost. Create these relationships in your life by being open, understanding and vulnerable to people that value you for who you are and inspire you to become the best version of yourself. Make time to spend time with them, listen to each other and have deep convos. You will feel recharged afterwards.

Honoring and accepting feelings

At every stage, through every phase, be understanding, accept, reflect and move on. It is okay to honor your emotions. Try to figure out why they arise and let it pass. It is freeing to release everything you feel. Don’t ever act as if there is nothing wrong. When you feel a certain way, it has a reason. Your body knows best.

Choosing the right nutrition and training

One of the most important drivers of health. It all comes from within so whatever you put in your body will manifest in some way, so make it mostly good things and a lot of clean water. Try to keep your training and nutrition as functional as possible and listen to your body (portion control; rest when needed,… ). When the nutrition and movement are on point, health will follow.

Being present; more time offline

My biggest concern about this topic is the always present technology. Put down your phone for a while, enjoy a meal with friends and family; go out for a walk in nature; go do team sports outside; learn to do a craft; yoga; read; do anything that keeps you in the moment and makes you enjoy the little things you used to enjoy so much.

Doing what you love

Do you have drive? Do you feel like you have served someone today? Do you feel like you can contribute and for example help others with something you do, know or make? Find out how you can serve others or contribute to the world with one of your talents/ skills. It will give you a sense of joy and fulfillment which in turn contributes to your well-being

Remaining disease-free or actively on a journey to heal

Make sure to always pay attention to your health, now more than ever. We get older every day which means we become weaker over time. It should be your goal to actively practice natural anti-aging protocols (involves training and nutrition) to prevent age-related diseases and issues. It is all up to you. You are in control.

Being active and playful

Move throughout your day. Not just that one hour of training, but regular moments each day. We are not made to sit down 8 hours a day in front of a screen with artificial light. We should be walking around more, playing with the children, carrying heavy loads and being in nature. Make sure to move regularly and make play such as team sports, a walk or swim your new habit.

Soaking up the sun

Every day whenever possible for at least 15 minutes.

Feeling balanced

Doing all of the above without overthinking and overcomplicating it, making it fit your lifestyle and enjoying all of it, the good and the bad. Let’s all go back to basics. Our health will be grateful.

I hope this gives insight in what area you might need to make some improvements in favor of your well-being. There are probably many more factors that might drive our health. What did I forget?
